Steven N. Gange, MD, FACS

Dr Gange is a general adult urologist, with unique expertise and specialization in all aspects of Men’s Health (including all prostate conditions, surgical correction of erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, etc). After training at UCLA and University of Kentucky he spent 6 years serving in the US Army, as a urologist in military academic teaching programs. He moved to Salt Lake in 1996, practicing with Western Urological Clinic, and after merging he joined Granger Medical/Summit Urology, the largest urology practice in Utah.

Dr Gange has been deeply involved in clinical research since his arrival to Utah, participating in over 50 urology clinical trials. He has been a sought after researcher in the Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) Device arena. He very much enjoys the cutting edge, and this has led to bringing minimally invasive treatment to Utah for this very common condition affecting men. He performed the first UroLift and the first Rezum procedures in North America, and was lead enroller in those clinical trials. He was the first in the world to perform UroLift under local anesthesia, and as of early 2019 has performed 600 UroLift procedures, mostly in office (he has the largest series of UroLift under local anesthesia in the world). He now also performs UroLift for middle lobes, using an advanced technique. UroLift is covered by virtually all insurance plans and Medicare. Learn more at www.UroLiftDrGange.com. Dr Gange always seeks minimally invasive solutions to urological problems. In 2007 he became the first urologist the Intermountain region to perform High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for prostate cancer: www.HIFUProstateServices.com. He trained with 2 world-renown experts in prosthetic urology and performs outpatient penile prosthesis surgery: www.ColoplatMensHealth.com/penile-implants. He has also recently completed training in ProACT, a simple and adjustable minimally invasive solution for male incontinence: www.ProACT-for-men.com.

Dr Gange has developed a love for teaching. He has nearly 25 years of educating patients and providers. He is the Summit Urology Director of Education, making an effort to help his Summit partners stay current by organizing journal clubs. Since 2014 he has extensively consulted for Teleflex (NeoTract)—makers of UroLift, and has taught over 200 urologists from elsewhere during his office case days. He has lectured and taught UroLift in all major urology meetings, and also in practices interested in BPH and UroLift (in almost every US state and Canada), often given the privilege of assisting his colleagues as they perform their first UroLift cases.

Dr Gange has held leadership positions throughout his education and training. Since arriving in Utah he has served as St Mark’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee Chairman, Medical Staff Secretary, and Chief of both Urology and Surgery. He worked with the American Cancer Society Prostate Cancer Task Force and formed a committee of nearly 100 volunteers to plan and execute a landmark men’s health education event for laypeople in 1999. He has served as President of the Utah Urological Society, and founded the UUS Annual Meeting. He has held a position on the Practice Management Committee of the American Urological Association.  He also founded a 501c3 Educational Foundation, The Utah Healthy Living Foundation, and has educated the public and physicians (accredited since 2006 to provide doctors with CME).

Dr Gange enjoys travel, skiing and golf. Most of all, he feels that medicine is a high calling in society, and he is grateful every day for the opportunity to help others. He always ensures easy access for his patients via email and/or phone, and strives to treat his patients as he would want to be treated.
