Supplies and Pre-Procedure Materials:

Parents to obtain:

Tylenol (liquid) per instructions on bottle, 45 minutes prior to bris

The amount is 15 mg per kg of weight

For example: 7 lb boy = 3.2 kg, so 48 mg Tylenol; 8 lb boy = 3.6 kg, so 54 mg Tylenol.  Don’t be too concerned about the exact amount: if you give around 50 mg that will not cause problems.

Plain Vaseline or petroleum jelly (comes in a tube), please get 1 or 2 tubes of this

Granulated brown sugar

Grape juice

Receiving blanket (for head)

Receiving blanket or Boppy

Multiple diapers: needs to be changed after anesthetic and before bris and possibly again after bris

Baby should not eat 1 hour prior to bris (except for the Tylenol)
