Matthew D. Pearson, MD
Dr. Pearson joined Granger Medical Clinic-Summit Urology after moving to Salt Lake City from Austin, Texas where he had been in practice since 2011. Before starting practice in Austin, Dr. Pearson completed both medical school and his urologic training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. At the time, robotic surgery was just at its naissance, and Dr. Pearson feels fortunate that his training program was progressive in making robotic surgery a focus of the curriculum. This has allowed him to make the application of robotic surgical techniques a core part of his practice ever since. Despite developing a well-established, busy urologic practice of over 12 years in Austin, Dr. Pearson and his wife were motivated to relocate to the Salt Lake City area to be closer to his wife’s family as they welcomed twin babies into their family in late 2023.
Dr. Pearson is married, and his wife is a nurse practitioner working in liver transplant hepatology. He has twin babies born on 12/4/23. His hobbies consist of hiking, camping, fishing, cycling, travel, and history. Favorite food: BBQ!!!
Care Philosophy:
Dr. Pearson believes strongly in the concept of shared decision-making with his patients. There are often several approaches to the management of many urologic diseases or conditions, and each approach may have different associated risks and expected outcomes. Furthermore, every patient brings with him or her a unique set of concerns, fears, and desires that motivate them. Only by understanding the unique drivers of each patient can a physician then help that patient navigate medical decision-making and arrive at the most suitable management strategy. Honest dialogue between physician and patient without preconceived agendas is imperative for this process.
